Dawson Blues Women's AAA Basketball wins gold

March 10 -- Dawson's AAA Women's Basketball team has once again earned the title of Provincial Champions. After a hard-fought win against fierce competitors Coll่ge Montmorencey in the semi-finals, the women's team edged out Coll่ge Sainte Foy 76 - 69 for the gold. Congratulations on the well-deserved win in a division that has become extremely competitive. Congratulations are also in order for tournament MVP Amencie Mercier and Coach Trevor Williams, who came away a winner after being voted coach of the year by his peers throughout the province. We wish them all the best as they travel to Kelowna on March 18th to compete in the Nationals. Go Blues!

Our Men's AAA team performed admirably as well, clinching the win by a comfortable margin in their bronze medal game against Coll่ge Montmorencey.

Severely damaged trees on campus will have to come down

February 22 -- Dawson's magnificent campus offers a precious legacy, but along with its rich history are a number of very old trees that have become dangerously fragile. All these trees are in an advanced stage of decay, some limbs held together by wire.

The decision to remove five of them comes after exhaustive inspections by both the City of Westmount's tree inspectors and those by the experts Dawson contracts to maintain the trees on campus year-round.

The five trees deemed unsalvageable will be taken down during the March study break (March 15 to 19). Three of the trees are clustered around the front gates on Sherbrooke and one is located by the front entrance of the daycare. One is on the edge of the west lawn.

Although the loss of these trees will be great, the west lawn will be entirely replanted through the Peace Garden project.
