Niawen to all the donors of Dawson College who have funded the David Oliver Award. I hope to continue to help build this bridge for Indigenous students to come to Dawson, as I set an example to so many others that my people can belong in these spaces and reclaim even a tiny amount of ourselves inside the most western of institutions. I hope Dawson will see the work of myself and countless other young leaders inside our Dawson community as they continue to break down barriers and open doors for students of all backgrounds to feel like they belong, and this space of education is theirs.
David Oliver Award
Fall 2024
Awarded to a student who shows great promise in leadership through their involvement in extracurricular activities. This award is offered by the Association of Dawson Professionals in memory of David Oliver, who was a beloved member of the Student Services staff.
