I knew when I applied to my current program, that I would encounter challenges, not because I lack the skills necessary to work in electronics, but because of the deep-rooted, gender-based biases in engineering. I am grateful that this award recognizes those obstacles. The award not only encourages me to continue with my studies by recognizing that I do have a place in this field, but it will also help me cover the cost of living.
