Prerequisite: English as a Second Language – Level 2 or equivalent

Overall Goals:

  1. Provide students who already have an understanding of English basics and can deal effectively with familiar everyday situations, with the vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions necessary for communicating accurately and fluently in various contexts.
  2. Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various communicative activities focusing on travel, culture and customs, as well as film, lifestyle, socializing, and personality traits.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Get acquainted with others and discuss different cultures and customs.
  • Discuss movie preferences, make arrangements, and apologize for being late.
  • Leave and take messages, check into a hotel, and ask about services.
  • Discuss car accidents and driving problems.
  • Write two or three paragraphs of personal biography.

  • Pair and group discussions
  • Listening activities (Listening for gist, for specific information and for details)
  • Reading activities (Skimming and scanning tasks)
