English Conversation Workshop – Advanced level (Online)

Prerequisite: Be able to read and identify with the following sentences, or have taken an intermediate English course or reached level 6 at the Center for Training and Development:

  1. I understand most ideas delivered through various media. However, at times I do not comprehend idiomatic expressions and formal vocabulary.
  2. I can communicate my thoughts effectively on most subjects, but I need to expand my vocabulary and phrasal verbs in order to express more complex ideas.
  3. I have a good understanding of grammatical structures, but I believe I need to put my acquired knowledge into practice by speaking.

Overall Goals:

  1. This course aims to give students at the advanced level the opportunity to improve and practise their speaking and comprehension skills and to enrich their vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and phrasal verbs. Through group discussions and debates, students will be able to interact with fluency and spontaneity. They will gain further confidence as English speakers and will make interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  2. Emphasis will be placed on speaking skills, and particular attention will be paid to the enrichment of vocabulary, phrasal verbs, and idiomatic expressions on a wide range of subjects.
  3. The topics and subjects chosen are related to the workplace, the environment, the news, education, culture, health, and relationships. The course focuses on refining the skills already acquired. (Additional themes can be covered depending on the interests of the participants.)
