Spanish Conversation – Level 5 (Online)

Prerequisite: Spanish Conversation Level 4

Overall Goals:

  1. Help students to get by in Spanish in familiar day-to-day situations by immersing them in interesting aspects of the cultural and social life of the Spanish-speaking world that can be contrasted with the students’ own culture. Students will be able to use the vocabulary, grammatical structures, and linguistic functions necessary to communicate accurately and fluently in a variety of contexts.
  2. Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various communicative activities focusing on travel, culture and customs, and socializing.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Express themselves in a richer and more versatile manner, by using more advanced grammar forms and idiomatic expressions.
  • Feel quite comfortable in their interaction with native speakers.

  • Vocabulary activities
  • Modelling and practising short conversations
  • Pair and group activities
  • Pronunciation activities
  • Listening activities (listening for gist and for specific information)
  • Reading activities (skimming and scanning tasks)
  • Grammar activities and games

  • Access to a computer with a minimum of Windows 7 or Mac G5
