Pedagogical Days

Dawson College hosts Ped Days for faculty and staff, providing the opportunity for knowledge exchange on teaching expertise, and to learn from external workshop facilitators. The events feature a keynote address, and a rich variety of workshops, presentations and panel discussions built around teachers’ interests and suggestions.
Funding for Faculty
Dawson Faculty may apply for funds in order to defray the cost of the professional development and training needs. Depending on the nature of the training initiative, there are different funding sources for Faculty Professional Development.
This funding initiative is designed to cover or defray the cost of group professional development activities. Expenses that are eligible for this fund include internal or external speaker honoraria, and travel expenses. Applications are reviewed twice a year by a committee that includes the appropriate sector dean. The work placements in industry initiative enables teachers to upgrade their technical skills in a professional setting related to their area(s) of specialty. Work placements may last up to twenty (20) days, during which period the College will cover the cost of a substitute teacher (at approx. 0.1FTE). Applications are reviewed twice a year by a committee that includes the appropriate sector dean. The Professional Development Fund for faculty is managed by a parity committee composed of teacher members and representatives of the college. Credit Courses (PERFORMA)
PERFORMA (Perfectionnement et Formation des Maîtres au Collégial) is a department of the Faculty of Education at the University of Sherbrooke. It offers undergraduate and graduate level certificates, diplomas and degrees in college-level teaching for CEGEP teachers and professionals. PERFORMA programs include both English and French streams, and non-credit pedagogical workshops.
