Law, Society and Justice students at the Montreal Bar Debating Competition 2015
Two students from the Law, Society and Justice students participated in the Montreal Bar Debating Competition on Wednesday March 25 at the Montréal Courthouse. Réginal Labonté and Inès Vieux Francoeur, both first year students, competed against 9 other college and cegep teams in a debate on the theme of Legal Protection for Whistleblowers: for or against. They spent the Study Break week preparing and, although debating teams have the choice of language in which to debate, they chose to prepare and debate in French.
Despite not winning, a number of academic advisors and others at the courthouse commented on how well they had done. Réginal and Ines are now both committed to forming a Dawson Debating Club next year and participating in an inter-college debating league.
