DawsCon: Anatomy of a successful software conference

Share

Ken Fogel, long-time Computer Science coordinator and co-chair, got involved with a little project called NetBeans a few years ago that he hoped might lead to some added opportunities for students in the program and inspiration for software developers everywhere who wanted to attend a free conference in Montreal.

Ken’s little project has grown into a not-insignificant cottage industry with a new name, a major sponsor, big name speakers, growing attendance and networking opportunities for old and new developers alike. It’s been a win-win situation for everyone involved and one that has given Ken a much-coveted title in the world of software scions: Java Champion! Congratulations to Ken and to everyone who made DawsCon a great success.

Read Ken’s first person account of putting this conference together to its culmination as a premier event on the circuit.
