Director General’s mandate is renewed for a third five-year term
The Chair of the Board of Governors of Dawson College, Louise Kralka, announced Tuesday that after an in-camera session of the Board of Governors meeting on Monday, September 29, the members voted unanimously in favour of renewing the mandate of Director General Richard Filion for a period of five years, ending December 2019. Senate had also submitted a favourable recommendation for renewal to the Board. This is Richard Filion’s third five-year mandate. He started with the College in January 2005.
“It is a privilege to be able to serve Dawson College, its academic mission and our community for a third mandate,” said Mr. Filion. “I am honoured to have your confidence in my ability to lead this venerable institution through exciting times to come and also to navigate some challenging waters ahead.”
Dawson College is intricately woven into the fabric of our city. It stands at the forefront of innovation and creativity across the disciplines. We have dedicated and engaged faculty and staff. Every year, thousands of students put their confidence in all of us to prepare them to be productive citizens no matter where the road may lead them. This is a responsibility we take to heart and I am reminded of our hard work, our commitment and our engagement every time I walk the halls of Dawson teeming with life and learning.
I thank you for your collaboration, your support and your enthusiasm, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you to continue on this course of excellence, innovation and academic integrity.”
