Brand new Social Science Program launching in 2023

More than 150 people at Dawson as well as external stakeholders contributed over a three-year process to develop the brand new Social Science Program, which was approved by Dawson’s Board of Governors on Oct. 12 and will be implemented in the Fall of 2023.

Oct. 14 Ped Day Keynote Speaker: Roger Azevedo, Ph.D.

Ped Day will be held on Oct. 14th. The schedule will be available shortly.

Dr. Azevedo is a Professor in the School of Modeling Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida. He is also an affiliated faculty in the Departments of Computer Science and Internal Medicine at the University of Central Florida and the lead scientist for the Learning Sciences Faculty Cluster Initiative. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from McGill University and completed his postdoctoral training in Cognitive Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. His main research area includes examining the role of cognitive, metacognitive, affective, and motivational self-regulatory processes during learning with advanced learning technologies (e.g., intelligent tutoring systems, hypermedia, multimedia, simulations, serious games, immersive virtual learning environments). He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and refereed conference proceedings in the areas of educational, learning, cognitive, educational, and computational sciences. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the recipient of the prestigious Early Faculty Career Award from the National Science Foundation.

Reservation system for Open House is now open

October 5th, 2022

Dawson’s 2022 Open House will be a blend of in-person experiences at the College by reservation only and online information sessions open to all.

For the in-person events, prospective students are required to reserve their spot in a Program Experience and/or Campus Tour, which are taking place on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Dawson’s reservation system opens Wednesday, Oct. 5 here and spots are limited. Each student may register for up to two program experiences and one campus tour. Due to limited capacity, students may only bring one guest.

Senate has recommended new Social Science Program

September 21st, 2022

Dawson will have a brand new Social Science Program! After three years of work, the input of more than 100 teachers and professionals, and consultation with universities and other stakeholders and partners, the Senate of Dawson College decided to recommend the revision of the pre-university program at their Sept. 20 meeting. It will be presented to Dawson’s Board of Governors for formal approval on Oct. 12 and Dawson expects to welcome its first cohort in the Fall of 2023.

The Viewbook and the website are being updated and will reflect the new program and its profiles in October.
