Celebrating Dawson’s Fall Awards recipients

November 30th, 2022

Meet Dawson’s Fall 2022 Awards recipients! They are all current students at Dawson in a wide range of programs. These students are distinguished by involvement in the Dawson community, giving back or academic excellence and perseverance. Congratulations to our students and many thanks to all the donors and staff who make these awards possible.

At the celebration held on Nov. 24, we marked the 40th anniversary of the Anne-Marie Howlett Memorial Award, the inauguration of the Harry Fainsilber Memorial Award, given in memory of a beloved Dawson Mathematics teacher, and the return of the Dawson Teachers’ Union Polytechnique Memorial Scholarship.

Atwater Community Pantry is turning 1!

October 19th, 2022

Come celebrate one year of community building and mutual aid with the Atwater Pantry Project on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m., right in front of the pantry (2111 Atwater).

Enjoy a free meal courtesy of the People’s Potato but feel free to bring food to share as well if you’d like. Finally, PLEASE bring your own re-usable containers and cutlery as there will be a limited amount to distribute.

Bringing some non-perishable donations for the pantry would be super appreciated as well. It would be nice to kick off the pantry’s second year with it full!

Thanks to Dawson blood donors

September 21st, 2022

Héma-Québec held a two-day blood drive at Dawson on Sept. 13-14 and a total of 121 students and employees donated blood. Of these, 31 were first-timers! Many first-timers said it was easy and that they would do it again.

M. Lauzon of Héma-Québec said that they exceeded their goal of 120 donors and that it was an “excellent” result, especially considering that they have been experiencing up to 30 per cent of no-show’s for appointments elsewhere.

Thanks to the Dawson community donors for saving lives and embodying our value of well-being of all!

Financial Aid Food Bank needs our help!

The Financial Aid Food Bank is always in need of non-perishable food items to replenish the shelves. Donations can be dropped off in the bin at 4.E2. The Financial Aid office is grateful to all our regular providers and hope that the Peace Week Giving Tree near the cafeteria entrance in the Upper Atrium will be a great success.  Breakfast items are greatly needed. Here are some ideas for your donations: boxed nut and oat milks, juice, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, nut spreads, jelly, Nutella, graham crackers, melba toast, instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate powder, pop tarts, granola.
