OAD’s Madeleine Bazerghi wins CCDMD photo contest

Madeleine Bazerghi's photo, entitled A Socially Distant Moment, has won the Concours Photo Le Monde en Images - Catégorie Personnel du réseau collégial québécois from the Centre collégial de développement de matériel didactique (CCDMD)

Madeleine works as a pedagogical counsellor in Dawson's Office of Academic Development and is on the Faculty Hub team.

"So I submitted to a photo contest for the very first time. Never thought of doing so but, I thought this photo worthy of representing a socially distant moment," she said.

Illustration students capture flight of migratory birds

The Illustration Program, the Sustainability Office and Taking Root Inc. collaborated on a project to capture key events of the migratory flight of two species of native Quebec birds from urban forests near Dawson College to the newly replanted forests of Nicaragua.

Seeking artist contributions for Earth Week event

Dawson's Earth Week is fast approaching. We are reaching out to any staff, faculty or student who would like to contribute a piece of art: canvas painting, digital painting prints, photographs, sculptures, etc. to this year's Earth Week fundraiser. The theme for the pieces is anything nature, animals, sustainability, Earth. They will all be put up for sale online between April 19 and April 30. Your name and/or social media accounts will be mentioned, and all the money raised will help fund Dawson's beautiful Peace Garden.

No pieces will be turned away. Thank you in advance for caring for our garden!

Dawson teacher’s film opens March 30 across Canada

From writer-director Jesse Noah Klein (Faculty, Cinema | Communications), LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE stars Sarah Sutherland, Jared Abrahamson, Hubert Lenoir, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Margaux Vaillancourt, Amanda Brugel, Sheila McCarthy and Michael Riley.

Distributed by Entract Films, LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE is produced by Colonelle Films and Woods Entertainment.

Dara returns home to reconnect with her husband and her young daughter, whom she left two years earlier. When she arrives, she discovers that a woman who is seven months pregnant has taken her place.

LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE will open in select theatres March 26 and be available on-demand across Canada in English and French on March 30.

Photography student’s work on display in Resistance & Resilience

If you have been in the College and wondered about the work in the display cases outside the art gallery, it may surprise you to know that it is the work of Dawson student Asia Mason.  The third-year Photography student was one of only four student artists selected for the Peace Centre/Art Gallery’s online exhibition, Resistance and Resilience.
