New book by Richard Soare, Dawson’s own Martian expert

Richard Soare (Faculty, Geography) has a new book out about the Red Planet. Mars Geological Enigmas: From the Late Noachian Epoch to the Present Day (9780128202456) is well placed to carry on with the search for water and life and other deeply rooted Martian mysteries.

OAD’s Madeleine Bazerghi wins CCDMD photo contest

Madeleine Bazerghi's photo, entitled A Socially Distant Moment, has won the Concours Photo Le Monde en Images - Catégorie Personnel du réseau collégial québécois from the Centre collégial de développement de matériel didactique (CCDMD)

Madeleine works as a pedagogical counsellor in Dawson's Office of Academic Development and is on the Faculty Hub team.

"So I submitted to a photo contest for the very first time. Never thought of doing so but, I thought this photo worthy of representing a socially distant moment," she said.

Dawson students place third in college research contest

May 18th, 2021

Graduating Health Science students Isabeli Pizzani Maurutto and Jennifer Robert were selected by a jury as third-place winners of a province-wide competition for the best student research projects at the college level announced by the Association pour la recherche au collégial (ARC) on May 11.

Nursing teacher promotes environmental understanding for Quebec nurses

For more than 20 years, Fiona Hanley has been an activist and researcher studying the impact of the environment on our health. In recent years, the Dawson Nursing Program teacher has been a key mobilizer in collaborating with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) to create a climate change committee.

Joel Tyrell (Athletics, Student Services) was honoured by Montréal à Coeur/Montreal Community Cares with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Here is their Facebook post, which was published on May 14:
