There is art throughout our beautiful heritage building. Sometimes when you pass something every day, you no longer see it. Let's use this time away from the building to appreciate the art we have on campus.
Here is a gallery of professional photos shot in June 2019 of the art work at Dawson. It was commissioned under the 1% rule that public buildings (new or renovated) have to set aside 1% of the budget for art. Special thanks to Alan Stewart and Rhonda Meier for help putting these photos together.

Garbage Dude’s tips
February 18th, 2020

- Do recycle ziplock bags and aluminum foil, even if they are not clean.
- Don't throw takeout coffee cups in the recycling bin. They are garbage.
- Do compost kleenex (new and used).
- Do compost all paper products; only clean paper can be recycled.

Our waste management efforts at Dawson College are showing results. First Aid tips
January 14th, 2020
Dawson College trained another cohort in First Aid in the Workplace last week. About 45 employees are now certified as First Aiders after two days of First Aid in the Workplace training. Last semester, about 40 students were also trained in basic First Aid.
The first responders on campus are always the Security team. They can help a speedy response by directing emergency personnel on site.
When at Dawson, do not call 911. Call the Security Desk at ext. 1000. There is always someone on duty 24 hours/day.
There are some great tips from the program that we can all keep in mind:
- Never move the victim unless in danger
- Never feed the victim
- Whatever is inside (impaled), leave it in
- Whatever has come out, leave outside the body
- Whatever is normally dry, cover with a dry bandage
- Whatever is naturally wet, cover with a wet bandage.
