VERTAKKING (branches; branched; branching)
50th Anniversary Commemoration Collaborative Art Project
Date: September 20, 2019
Size: 1.4m X 1.78m
Image: Based on an original photograph taken of one of our campus majestic trees
Media: Photographs, Acrylic Paint, reclaimed building materials from the college including: plexi glass, cork, medium density fiberboard and plywood
This work happened as a part of the 50th anniversary celebration and represents the effort of 50 members of our community who participated to make it happen.
The theme of this art piece has a strong environmental tenant, the subject is local, is nature based, a representation from many perspectives of the very branches belonging to the trees of our campus. These amazing living elders, which frame our skyline each day, clean our air; provide a home for a diverse range of urban wildlife, whose leaves give comforting shade and endless and ever changing beauty.
The intention of this collaborative project is to:
- Connect with our relationship to the natural world
- Underline our interconnectedness
- Enjoy a creative interactive art activity
