An evening with Filmmaker Jorge Camarotti April 12
The Professional Photography Department will be presenting an evening with Filmmaker Jorge Camarotti on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. in 5B 16.
Jorge will be presenting his award-winning short film “Ousmane” as well as discussing his process, and his journey. There will also be a question-and-answer period. This event is open to the Dawson community.
About Jorge Camarotti
Born into a working-class family in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jorge Camarotti is a Brazilian filmmaker based in Montreal since 2003.
Since his beginning in filmmaking 10 years ago, Jorge has directed a dozen short films, both documentary and fiction, remaining true to his mission of giving voice to the most aggrieved individuals of our society.
His most recent project Ousmane had its world premiere at TIFF 2021, followed by an international premiere at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand film festival. Ousmane has been screened in more than 60 festivals around the world so far. The film won 15 awards including two Academy Awards Qualifying Festivals, a nomination for Best Live-Action Film at the 2022 Canadian Screen Awards and Vimeo Staff Pick curators chose the film as one the Best Films of 2022.
Jorge is now working on his first feature film, Edith, which was selected at the highly regarded TIFF Labs for development in 2021.
