Creative Change Maker showcase in 5C corridor Oct. 1-4
The Creative Collective for Change has selected the winners for their 2nd annual Creative Change Maker Award!
Look up as you walk the 5C corridor next week (October 1-4)! The CC4C will be showcasing the diverse student art works submitted last June for its Creative Change Maker Award. Their diversity was exciting – coming from both topic and genre. Without saying more, we invite you to see the works in person, and discover the winning submissions, which stood out for their clarity of message and powerful calls for change – Mari’s Catastrophe, Samantha Ryes’ Right on the Land, and Mischa-Elizabeth Clarke’s Pray.
The week will end with a Friday gala (follow the signs in the corridor), where the winners will be awarded their $100 cash prizes – curtesy of the Dawson Foundation. We invite you to drop in and meet the student-artists who participated. In light of Orange Shirt day, we encourage you to have a look at “Right on the Land” with us before we meet at the gala.
We would also like to offer a big thank you to our judges – mixed media artist Melanie Garcia, poet and English teacher Sue Elmslie and recent Visual Arts grad and member of our CC4C social media team, Aïyana-Faye Giard. Their thoughtfulness, aesthetic eye and passion was indispensable.
If you are unable to drop by in person, we invite you to visit the online exhibit on our website at https://cc4change.com/2024/09/11/creative-change-maker-awards-2024/, and if you would like to learn more about the activities of the Creative Collective for Change, please consider following us at @cc4change on Instagram .
