Dec. 17: Nomination deadline for Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal
The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal recognizes the voluntary involvement, determination and dedication of Quebecers who make or have made a difference in their community or Québec nation.
Dawson College can recommend up to two students. Faculty and staff members can nominate students to the Awards Office until December 17. A selection committee will then choose the two candidates to be officially nominated by the Awards Office.
To be eligible for a nomination by an educational establishment, the student must, before the nomination deadline:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (SC 2001, c 27.) and reside permanently in Québec;
- be under 29 years of age;
- be enrolled in a public or private high school, college or university or a vocational training centre (in a school service centre or school board) that is located in Québec and that offers a program recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation and the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur;
- have, through their involvement:
- demonstrated sustained volunteer involvement in social or community activities;
or - shown an inspiring attitude, had a positive influence on a group or community;
- demonstrated sustained volunteer involvement in social or community activities;
- be able to achieve the objectives of their program of study.
Please note there here are no financial rewards associated with the Lieutenant Governor’s Honours Program.
