Ken Fogel elected to Java Community Process Global Executive!

Teacher Ken Fogel was elected Nov. 19 to a one-year term on the executive committee of the Java Community Process. This organization, managed by Oracle Corporation, reviews all JSRs (Java Service Requests) submitted by developers and companies from around the world for changes, enhancements and even removals from the Java language. This language is used by 16 million developers. Ken will be sitting at the table with IBM, Intel, Twitter and other organizations to decide on the future of Java.

“It is very rare that an academic has been on the executive,” Ken says. “There is no higher authority for the Java language, a language that forms the core of the Computer Science Technology program at Dawson College. Dawson College is recognized around the world as a center of excellence in teaching Java programming.”

Ken is busy preparing the DAWSCON free one-day software conference on Jan. 10 at Dawson College. This conference will bring speakers from Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Colombia and Montreal to speak to students and developers on a wide range of topics concerning software development.
