The return of in-person Open House

Each year since the pandemic began, the Open House Committee has been coming up with solutions and new ideas for how to stage Open House, a critical recruitment activity to fill the programs for the coming academic year.

This year was the first time the College held a true hybrid event. Oct. 23 was by reservation only and offered tours and program experiences. Thousands of people returned to the College but in a far more organized way than pre-2020.

“We are incredibly grateful to the over 300 people – staff, faculty and students – who gave their Sunday to staff our first in-person Open House in three years,” said Carey-Ann Pawsey, lead organizer.

A couple of days later, we hosted Online Open House on Oct. 25 and offered webinars on Social Science, Science and How to Apply and the opportunity to chat online with all programs and profiles.

Numbers are still coming together. Thousands of people visited the College in person and online. The Open House Committee is open to feedback and will be meeting soon to evaluate what worked well and what could be reconsidered for next time. Winter Open House is set for early February; details to come later.
