If you know of students who could benefit from connecting with one another and Student Services staff in a relaxing setting, direct them to the online gatherings that are taking place three times a week and hosted by Health Services, AccessAbility Centre and First-Year Office staff.

As teachers and students have had to adapt to the realities of the online semester, Student Services has ensured that its support to students has remained active despite the physical closure of our campus. This includes some fun options that have been taking place since mid-April and will continue for the rest of the semester. Students wishing to get together virtually outside of class time for casual discussions have the following options: The Virtual Student Lounge, and the Self-Care Workshops.

The Virtual Student Lounge is a casual, friendly space in which students can Zoom chat about school, work, or whatever is on their mind. The meetings are hosted by the First-Year Students’ Office’s Geoff Kloos and Valentina Solkin. These get-togethers are a great place to decompress, vent and ask questions.  Students can confirm their attendance in advance by sending a Mio to Geoff Kloos. The Virtual Student Lounge is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 – 2 pm

Weekly Self-Help Workshops are hosted by Julie Gosselin of Health Services and Rosie Arcuri of the AccessAbility Centre. These online gatherings are for students feeling overwhelmed and in need of some self-care strategies to help them cope with stress. Students can confirm their attendance in advance by sending a Mio to Julie Gosselin. The Self-Care Workshops take place Fridays at 1 – 2 pm.

Staff and Faculty are encouraged to direct students to these services. Other Student Services support is listed on the Student Hub of the Virtual Campus at https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/current-semester/student-hub/

*Spaces are limited and the hosts welcome students who confirm on a first-come, first-served basis.
