In 2009 Joel, along with two other colleagues from Dawson College and one from John Abbott College receved a two year P.A.R.E.A grant to study pedagogy & technology. He is the co-founder and co-director of this web based magazine that explores a multiplicity of topics, always based on a yearly theme, and is interdisciplinary to the core. The goal of S.P.A.C.E. is to expand academic discussion and collaboration beyond the classroom and across the disciplines.
Contributions to Dawson’s Community:
S.P.A.C.E. ; The Active Learning Classroom project; Additionally, along with his colleagues Jiri Tucker, Frank Mulvey and Andrew Katz, presented a workshop session on S.P.A.C.E at the 2013 PED Day. He also presented at the 2012 S.A.L.T.I.S.E. conference a session on “The CERN-SPACE project: Engaging students through open problems across disciplines”.
