3D Animation, Industrial Design and Photography: Japan Trip

March 9th - 20th, 2017

30 students from 3D Animation, Industrial Design and Photography are going to Japan to visit Polygon PicturesSquare Enix and 21_21 Design Sight. There, they will all take part in design workshops and visiting companies where 2 Dawson Alumni are working in the design field.

The group will attend an exhibition at 21_21 Design sight, where they will participate and work together in a design workshop under the theme: “Athlete”.  This exhibition, in addition to showcasing the movements and characteristics of the bodies of athletes through video footage and photographs, explores the experience of controlling sensation of the body, mind, and the latest technologies to analyze data as it relates to tactics, and the sports gear and other equipment that acts as an extension of the human body. This exhibition connects and intertwines all 3 disciplines (Photography, 3D animation & Industrial Design): there’s the photography exhibition itself, where students can study and observe, then the workshop where students immerse themselves in the interaction of form, motion and animation, and finally, the creating of an ergonomic product. This is a workshop that all students from different disciplines can gain new and different knowledge.
