BDC Case Competition 2017

February 11th - 12th, 2017

The BDC Case Competition is a formative event for Dawson students, who train for 5 months by analyzing university-level marketing cases, developing oral presentation skills, and learning to think on their feet (literally) in order to respond to questions posed by industry experts. Throughout the Case Competition process, technology students are informed of the benefit of the process to university studies. Many of our students continue to university and, from first hand observation, are several levels above their undergrad classmates in both case analysis and presentation, integral at both John Molson School of Business and McGill.

Project Update

The annual Vanier BDC Case Competition was held February 11-12 , 2017 at the Marriott Airport. Thirty-three college teams from across Canada (every province was represented) competed in a marketing case competition, where teams of 4 students (3 and an alternate) analysed a business case, created a powerpoint presentation, and then presented to judges who were recruited from industry. The Dawson presentation was observed by several faculty and many students. Despite the fact that the Dawson team was competing in a division that comprised students who were in their 4th year of their respective marketing programs (as was the case for all non-Quebec schools), the Dawson contingent’s superior performance earned them fourth place honours.
