BDC Vanier Competition 2016

February 13th - 14th, 2016

Project Update

The BDC (Vanier) Case Competition is one of only two business Case Competitions in the CEGEP network (Dawson hosts the other.)  Four students (Marketing Program) have been training since September, honing their business case analysis and presentation skills to compete at the 2-day 11th annual BDC Case Competition hosted by Vanier College. The Dawson team was one of 33 college- and CEGEP-teams hailing from across Canada that competed in the event.

The competition required teams to be sequestered for 3 hours, during which time they were given a case to analyze, perform a “situation analysis”,  define a marketing problem, develop solutions and an executable action plan, and create a power point presentation. At the end of the three hours, the teams were required to present before a panel of judges from industry, who evaluated and ranked the teams on a number of criteria.

The Dawson team was exceptionally well-prepared. The students comported themselves very well at the case event. The first day-Saturday- was capped off by the announcement of the finalists and formal sit-down dinner at a St. Laurent hotel. This event proved very formative.
