Project Update

This year’s CSSRA was the culmination of two years of training for the seniors on Dawson’s Rowing Team, while it served as the conclusion of the season for freshman athletes.

Each year rowers under the age of nineteen from all over North America race on St. Catherines’ Henley Race course. Dawson has regularly performed at this competition and this year’s best performance merited a bronze in the Senior Women’s Double, a very difficult category. Hanna Johnston and Sophia Cuoci raced through heats, and semifinals to claim their third place medal in the final. Dawson College also boated multiple doubles, a single, a quad, and a four.

Eleven athletes competed over the three days of racing. The experience was a heartening one, as the team did well, sending off its senior athletes to universities and into the world with a feeling of achievement while giving the returning athletes a gauge of their potential and a guide as what to expect from the year ahead.
