Dawson English Journal 16-17

Fall 2016 / Winter 2017

The Dawson English Journal is an academic journal, published online and in print, which features compositions written by Dawson students for their English courses (and related subjects). The journal is run by an editorial team made up of students. We get submissions of assignments from students across all programs, and we publish them so that friends, family and the general public can see what great thinking, reading, and writing Dawson students are doing in their courses.

Project Update

Issue #8 of the Dawson English Journal was a great success. Faculty advisors Rebecca Million and myself (Shalon Noble) worked with a total of 22 students, including 6 student editors, 15 student authors (1 editor was also an author), and 2 student graphic designers. We had 54 submissions from students in the college from which the editors worked together to chose 18 compositions to edit and publish. The quality of the work is outstanding. The physical copy of the journal is a very professional document, thanks largely to the two graphic design students who worked on its production. For the first time this year, we used perfect bind for the journal copies, making it a beautiful text on which all the students are very proud to have collaborated. Also for the first time this year, we hosted a launch party for the journal to celebrate the students’ accomplishments.
