Project Update

The first year Illustration students, accompanied by their teachers, Stephanie Aubin, Chantal Chapson and Pauline Fresco, visited Atelier Gymnase, on Friday, October 27, 2017, where  they were introduced to silkscreen printing. Laurianne, one of the owners of the studio, explained and showed them the all the steps of silkscreen printing. The students then engaged in an activity; starting by the drawing their work on an acetate, coating the screen with emulsion, burning their drawing on the screen, rinsing out the screen to make the drawing appear and finally experiencing first hand, silk screen printing. The students also had the chance to experience silkscreen printing on different surfaces such as paper and fabric.

This field trip allowed the Illustration student to gain hands-on knowledge of the silkscreen printing process and broadened their horizons.
