Jeux De Commerce Edouard-Montpetit

March 11th - 13th, 2016

The Jeux de Commerce Edouard-Montpetit Six students (3 from the Marketing Program and 3 from the Accounting Program) have been training since September, honing their business case analysis and presentation skills to compete at the inaugural inter-CEGEP Jeux de Commerce hosted by CEGEP Edouard-Montpetit. The Dawson teams were two of twenty teams that competed in both academic and sports events.

The academic component, taking place on the Saturday, required teams to be sequestered for 3 hours, during which time they were given a case to analyze, perform a “situation analysis”, define a marketing / accounting problem, develop solutions and an executable action plan, and create a powerpoint presentation. At the end of the three hours, the teams were required to present before a panel of judges from industry, who evaluated and ranked the teams on a number of criteria.

Both Dawson teams were exceptionally well-prepared and comported themselves very well at the case event. The Saturday event was capped off by the awards ceremony and formal sit-down dinner at a south-shore hotel. On Sunday, teams competed in sports-themed events.
