Trip to IIDEX Neocon Toronto 2016

November 30th - December 2nd, 2016

IIDEX is the largest trade show in Canada for the Interior Design profession. Students will visit the trade show, including lectures and workshops.  They will tour Toronto sites organized by Interior Designers of Canada and will also visit museums and manufacturer’s showrooms with Dawson instructors.

Project Update

For the second time IIDEX, the tradeshow, took place in early December. Although there were challenges in coordinating course work all Interior Design teachers realized the benefits for the students and accommodated the trip in their schedules. Some course work was integrated into the tradeshow visit (scavenger hunt delivered via Moodle, seminar participation etc.).

Some of the activities at the tradeshow included the following; • Scavenger Hunt Quiz – delivered via a Moodle quiz, included a pre-trip section to be completed in preparation for the trip, and the main portion to be quiz completed during the trip.
• Keynote speaker – Paul Scialla – Delos – Sustainability and wellness
• Keynote speaker – Petra Blaise – Inside Outside – Dutch designer
• Visit of convention centre exhibitors

Other activities outside the tradeshow included the following; • Walking tour of Toronto sites with Scott and Leigh (see photos)
• Interface Carpet – Showroom visit and lecture
• Teknion Furniture – Showroom visit and lecture
