Un plantel sustentable se ocupa de responder a las necesidades de su comunidad y su contexto. La tragedia vivida a raíz de los recientes sismos (en Mexico) representa una oportunidad para avanzar en este camino. En este marco arrancó el SustenTour de “Reconstrucción Integral” con el objetivo de formar promotores en bioconstrucción y en primeros auxilios psicológicos con 77 participantes, estudiantes y docentes de la UPN de las licenciaturas en Educación indígena e Intervención Educativa y personal directivo de la Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marías (UAEM). El SustenTour abarcó aspectos relevantes para la reconstrucción integral que fueron abordados por dos mujeres expertas comprometidas socialmente dispuestas a compartir sus saberes para la formación de líderes en este campo emergente. Ximena Bedregal, arquitecta especializada en bioconstrucción y Emperatriz (Pera) Delgado, psicóloga especialista en atención psicológica en casos de desastres.

El SustenTour tuvo un carácter introductorio.  Los conocimientos y experiencias compartidas tocaron los corazones logrando motivar a una buena parte del grupo a unir manos y pies para amasar la tierra, preparar brebajes con babas de nopal, forrajes y estiércol de caballo, para construir una vivienda firme, resistente a sismos y fuego, que ademas sea térmica, bonita y sustentable y de hacerlo a través del trabajo colaborativo. El grupo se comprometio a trabajar para hacer una de esas viviendas que será  hogar para una de las muchas familias damnificadas en este caso tratándose de una ex alumna de educación indígena de la UPN.

La segunda etapa del Sustentour será totalmente práctica permitiendo a los participantes aplicar lo aprendido en proyectos familiares o comunitarios.

La presencia de los directores de la UPN y de la Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marias fue relevante para garantizar un mayor impacto del Sustentour. El maestro Aroldo Aguirre Wences (Director de la UPN Morelos) expresó la satisfacción de ser testigo de que los aprendizajes trascenderían en una fructífera labor, a diferencia de la larga lista de conferencias dadas en el mismo auditorio sobre trabajo colaborativo que se quedan en el nivel de la teoría y manifestó su apoyo para el proyecto de reconstrucción en marcha. El maestro Jorge Viana, emprenderá un proyecto de bioconstrucción en la Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marias en el marco del proyecto PES.

Ximena, llevó a los participantes a descubrir que el cuento de los tres cochinitos encierra muchos mitos en cuanto a que con un soplido del lobo la casita de paja se derrumbaría y a darnos cuenta de que lo que sí se puede derrumbar son los conocimientos ancestrales en cuanto a las formas de construir basadas en el uso sustentable de elementos naturales como la tierra, la madera, y en cuanto a las prácticas comunitarias que los intereses de las grandes empresas se empeñan en destruir para dar paso a la modernidad en deterioro del ambiente y del bienestar colectivo.Pera introdujo el relevante tema de la atención psicológica ante casos de desastres y de la importancia de formar a interventores capaces de brindar primeros auxilios emocionales a la población vulnerable. Es necesario prepararse, saber qué hacer antes, durante y después de un desastre para prevenir y mitigar sus efectos en la población y es posible hacerlo con estrategias educativas.

Integral Bio-construction

A sustainable campus takes care of responding to the needs of its community and its context. The tragedy lived due to the recent earthquakes jn Mexico presents an opportunity to continue in this path.

In this context, the “integral rebuilding sustainTour” was designed. It was designed with the objective of forming promoters of bio-construction and psychological first aid, with 77 participants, students and teachers of the UPN in the Indigenous Educative Intervention Degree and executive staff from the Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marías  (UAEM). The sustainTour discussed relevant aspects to consider for an integral reconstruction, which were presented by two experts, both socially involved, and who are willing to share their knowledge for the formation of leaders in this emerging work field ; Ximena Bedregal, a specialized architect in bioconstruction and Emperatriz (Pera) Delgado, a specialized psychologist in psychological attention in the event of disasters.

The SustainTour had an introductory character.  The knowledge and experiences shared touched many hearts, motivating a good part of the group to join hands (and feet) to gather soil, prepare cactus beverages, use fodder and horse manure to build a firm house, resistant to earthquakes and fire, one that is thermal, beautiful and sustainable. They will do this through collaborative work and they made a committment to build one for one of the many families affected (by the earthquake). In this case they will build a home for an ex-student of the Indigenous Educative Intervention Degree program at the UPN.

The second step of the SustainTour will be completely practical, allowing the participants to apply what they learned with their family and community projects.

The presence of the directors of the UPN and the Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marías was key to guarantee a wider impact of the SustainTour. Aroldo Aguirre Wences (Director of the UPN Morelos) expressed his satisfaction to know that that the new knowledge acquired would transcend into results, and not as in many cases when conferences given in the auditory about collaborative work stayed in the theoretical level.  He manifested his support for the ongoing project. Jorge Viana (Director of the Preparatoria Comunitaria de Tres Marias), will undertake a bioconstruction project at his own institution which is par to the Sustainable Campuses Initiative.

Ximena made the participants discover that the story of the three little pigs encloses many myths. One of these is that the wolf’s blow destroys the little house made of straw she argued that what is being threatened to be destroyed is the ancestral knowledge and building practices based on the sustainable use of natural elements such as earth, wood, and community practices. She argued that the interests of large companies pawn in destroying this knowledge to give way to modernity at the expense of deterioration of the environment and collective well-being. Pera introduced the relevant issue of psychological care in the event of disasters and the importance of training auditors capable of providing emotional first aid to the vulnerable population. It is necessary to prepare ourselves, to know what to do before, during and after a disaster to prevent and mitigate its effects on the population and it is possible to do so with educational strategies.
