Presentando proyectos de investigacion para postular a una beca PES

Este fue el motivo para llevar a cabo un encuentro, organizado por Ciudades Verdes, S.C, en el que pudimos compartir proyectos muy diversos, todos ellos motivantes como caminos posibles para seguir transitando hacia la sustentabilidad desde nuestros planteles educativos.
El auditorio de la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, campus Cuernavaca, fue esta vez el espacio en el que estudiantes de diferentes planteles que forman parte del Proyecto de investigación acción que llevamos a cabo con el Dawson College de Montreal, Canadá, con financiamiento del Consejo de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (SSHRC por sus siglas en inglés) desde hace ya un año y medio, presentaron sus proyectos de investigacion para postularse y ganar una beca que les apoye para realizarlos.
Además de los ponentes, fue muy grato contar con la presencia del grupo de estudiantes de la asignatura Cultura Ambiental, que recientemente se empezó a dar en la Licenciatura en Intervención Educativa de la UPN, a cargo del profesor Jorge Arturo Domínguez, quien además forma parte del equipo de investigadores del Proyecto. El grupo fue invitado con la finalidad de irse adentrando en el tema de sustentabilidad en los planteles educativos y con la idea de que se vayan inspirando para emprender sus propios sueños, ya sea en Retos o en propuestas de intervención educativa con enfoque ambiental.
La presentación de los proyectos se hizo también ante la doctora Gisela Frías, coordinadora general del Proyecto, profesora e investigadora con sede en Dawson College, quien al inicio de la actividad, realizó un encuadre para ubicarla en el marco del Proyecto. Habló de la importancia que tiene la tarea de investigar como un sistema que permite avanzar hacia la sustentabilidad en los planteles, dentro de un enfoque que lleve a la acción transformadora, basada en el principio de compartir saberes y trabajar de manera colaborativa, como estrategias para generar nuevos conocimientos y mejorar las prácticas.
Los proyectos presentados versan sobre propuestas que se llevarán a cabo tanto dentro de los planteles como en algunas comunidades de la región. Así se resalta la importancia de extender la sustentabilidad hacia nuestro entorno, de impactar más allá del aula, proyectando acciones hacia la sociedad que contribuyan al bienestar integral y a la mejora de las condiciones del entorno natural.
Promover el compostaje, el lombricompostaje, la siembra de huertos de diversos tipos para producir alimentos y plantas aromáticas y aprovecharlos no solo para el consumo familiar, sino para abastecer al comedor estudiantil dentro de un plantel escolar fueron los temas presentes en los proyectos presentados.
Sobresale el interés en el conocimiento de las plantas medicinales, el rescate de los saberes de la comunidad para usarlas, su propagación y formas de uso, aparecen en los objetivos de los diferentes proyectos, como estrategias sustentables que responden a problemas de economía de las familias y de insuficiencia y deficiencia del sistema de salud de nuestro país.
Otro tema de gran interés presentes en los proyectos, es la importancia de la conformación y fortalecimiento de grupos comunitarios como estrategia para fortalecer el tejido social y contribuir a generar espacios de convivencia y paz en busca del bienestar integral individual y colectivo. La bioconstrucción y el uso de energías alternas en los planteles son otras interesantes temáticas que aparecen en dos de los proyectos presentados.
La actividad llevada a cabo rebasó el objetivo de presentar proyectos para postular por una beca al 
permitir compartir saberes y al reafirmar la idea de que es posible transitar hacia la sustentabilidad si nos comprometemos a emprender dar pasos firmes hacia esta meta y es mucho mejor si lo hacemos juntos. Así lo pudimos observar al ver el acercamiento que se dio entre los presentes para entablar relaciones de colaboración y de intercambio de experiencias.
Proposals for Sustainable Campuses scholarships

This was the reason for the gathering that was organized by Ciudades Verdes S.C. Different projects, all of them with the objective to search for possible ways to to move towards sustainability from our educational institutions were presented.
The auditorium of the National Pedagogical University, Cuernavaca campus was the stage. Students from different campuses that are part of the Sustainable Campuses action research project presented their research projects in hopes to receive a scholarship. The Sustainable Campuses project is done in collaboration with Dawson College in Montreal, Canada and it has been funded for the last year and half by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
In addition to the speakers, it was very gratifying to have the presence of a group of students from the Environmental Culture class. This class was recently included in the Degree in Educational Intervention at the UPN, by Professor Jorge Arturo Domínguez, who is also part of the Project’s research team. The group was invited with the objective of giving them an opportunity to go deeper into the subject of sustainability in educational institutions and with the hope that they will be inspired to undertake their own dreams, either by applying to carry out sustainability “challenges” or in proposals for their educational intervention projects with an environmental focus.
The presentation of the research projects was also made to Dr. Gisela Frías, general coordinator of the Project, professor and researcher from Dawson College, who at the beginning of the activity provided a framework for the projects. She spoke about the important task to carry out research as a means to allow progress towards sustainability in the schools, with an approach that leads to transformative action, based on the principle of sharing knowledge and working collaboratively, as strategies for the generation of new knowledge and improved practices.
The research presented are all based on project proposals that will be carried out both within the campuses and in communities in the region. This highlights the importance of extending sustainability to our communiteis, taking the impact beyond the classroom, projecting actions towards society that contribute to overall well-being and to improving the conditions of the natural environment.
The presented projects included the promotion of composting, vermicomposting, planting of garden of diverse types to produce foods and aromatic plants and to take advantage of them not only for household consumption, but to supply the students’ cafeteria. An interest in the knowledge of medicinal plants, rescuing and use of community knowledge, its propagation and forms of use, stand out as the main objectives of the different projects that seek to look for sustainable strategies that respond to household economies and the insufficiency and deficiency of the health system of our country.
Another issue of great interest in the projects is the importance of the formation and strengthening of community groups as a strategy to strengthen the social fabric and contribute to generating spaces for conviviality and peace in search of individual and collective integral well-being. Bioconstruction and the use of alternative energies in the schools are other interesting topics present in two of the projects presented.
The activity carried out exceeded the objective of presenting projects to apply for a scholarship by allowing us to share knowledge and reaffirming the idea that it is possible to move towards sustainability if we take firm steps towards this goal and it is much better if we do together. This we observed as those present made moves to establish relationships of collaboration and a willingness to exchange of experiences.
